Insafe The Safer Internet Day is being marked around the world today. Organised by Insafe, the European internet safety network and the Child Exploitation and Online Protection (CEOP) Centre. The aim of the event  is to educate children and parents about the dangers of using the internet and social media websites.

This is the fifth Safer Internet Day and this year more than 50 countries are expected to take part. Although more people are using anti-virus, firewalls and anti-spyware programs, protection means more than just installing software. People needed to be aware of the "social engineering" threats in which con artists use technology to make their scams more plausible.
